Big Brands’ Dash for Amazon Cash Is No Joke

Amazon Dash has begun testing with select Amazon Prime members, could give big packaged-goods brands the edge they’ve been looking for. Amazon hasn’t said exactly how the model would work, but Dash could easily become a conduit for trade-promotion funds as brands bid for buttons, which would be like miniature end-caps in millions of homes. GHQ – A Comprehensive Look at Dozens of Categories

The beer/alcohol/cider category and wine category, third and seventh best selling categories respectively, were up in both dollars and units for the tracked period. Beer sales were at $9.7 billion, up 3.7%, while wine pushed past the $7 billion mark, up 4.4%. Lower down on the top 50 list, spirits/liquor (27th) sales were up 3.1% in dollars, topping $3 billion and up 2.5% in units. Learn more


Walmart Tells Suppliers to Slash Prices

The makers of consumer products sold at the retail giant’s 4,177 U.S. stores typically devote part of their marketing budgets to joint efforts with Walmart, such as in-store displays and banners, and online advertising programs. The program began by exploring how organizations develop and implement a collaborative culture and strategy. Next, core functional areas of business were explored -from forecasting, trade marketing, to merchandising, pricing, supply chain and predictive analytics- providing candidates a solid understanding of each function and how it contributes to internal alignment, and trading partner collaboration success.
